Holiday Travel

Beginning with the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through January 2 travel can be “challenging”! The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) expects more than 25 million people to head to “Grandma’s House” between Nov. 16-26  and that’s just for Thanksgiving. Families with crazy or crying kids, confused people who seldom travel, and crowds, crowds, crowds! Don’t worry. Our holiday travel tips will help you get over the river and through the woods faster.

Holiday Travel Tips for a Smoother Trip

  1. Flights on holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve) are often less crowded. As a bonus, they’re usually less expensive, too!
  2. Head for security like a pro – have your boarding pass and ID ready.
  3. Put your phone, watch, belt, pocket change and anything metal in your carry-on luggage before you get to TSA screening.
  4. Avoid layers of clothes. Carry your coat so you can quickly toss it in a bin for screening.
  5. Remove your laptop from a carry-on. It will need to be in a separate bin for screening.
  6. Review the 3-1-1 liquids rule (TSA 3-1-1 Rule)
  7. You made it through security! Remember to grab your laptop, cellphone, wallet and carry-on before you leave the area.
  8. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged. Outlets are at a premium when flights are cancelled or delayed.
  9. Before your next flight, consider PreCheck (for domestic flights) or Global Entry (international flights). You’ll have shorter lines, can leave your shoes on and leave your laptop in your carry-on.  TSA PreCheck    Global Entry

A little Thanksgiving humor to help you keep the happy in holidays:

Why do pilgrims’ pants always fall down?

Answer: Because they wear their belt buckles on their hats!
